Our Mission
Antarctica attracts a growing number of travelers who want to experience one of the world's last genuinely wild places. The challenge is that choosing the right expedition operator — from among dozens of IAATO-certified companies with similar-looking itineraries — is genuinely complex. Ship size, time ashore, expedition team quality, activity range, and price tier all interact in ways that marketing materials rarely clarify honestly.
Our mission is simple: give travelers the research-based, operator-neutral information they need to make a confident booking decision. We rank operators on documented criteria, update our assessments regularly, and never accept payment for placement or editorial coverage.
How We Work
Our rankings are based on publicly verifiable criteria: IAATO membership status, vessel specifications (capacity, ice class, hull type), declared activities and optional add-ons, guest-to-guide ratios where disclosed, traveler feedback aggregated from multiple independent review platforms, and significant operational developments such as fleet additions or itinerary changes. We do not rank operators that are not active IAATO members. Rankings are reviewed annually, with interim updates when operators make significant changes to their fleet or programs.
